Routine Breakdown: Live Oak High School

The six-time Large Varsity national champions are back and ready to take on the 2022-2023 competition season. Live Oak High School from Denham Springs, Louisiana is known for bringing action-packed routines with top-tier difficulty to the floor each season and we got a glimpse of what to expect from the Eagles at the 2022 UCA & UDA Mid-South Regional.

The Eagles are raising the bar with their innovative skill set and are ready to take on another season in hopes of securing their seventh national title. Take a look at a breakdown of the reigning national champion's brand new routine for the 2022-2023 season!

The Louisiana team opened up their routine with full squad tumbling that led into five standing double back handspring fulls. The tumbling was followed by five reverse hand-in-hands that then rippled to the top. Following the ripple pop-throughs, the Eagles performed their signature stretch high-to-high full arounds continuing into an immediate full up switch up!

The groups then dismounted to the ground and went to running tumbling where they threw nine beautiful running fulls. From here, the ladies of Live Oak transitioned into three pyramid groups where they built up hand-in-hands that front-popped to an immediate arabesque pull-through showcasing their flexibility.

Following their dynamic pyramid sequence, the team dispersed back to their stunt groups for their second elite stunt sequence and threw five beautiful front aerials to an immediate lib with an arabesque pull-through!

Up next is the cheer!

The team got the crowd involved with their "Live Oak" spell-out followed by solid low to high full-arounds using their blue, gold, and black signs.  The ladies then followed up with a clean hitch pyramid that led the crowd to yell the traditional "Geaux Eagles," that we all know and love.

After completing the cheer, the Eagles executed beautiful double-toe touches and then danced their way to the ending pyramid.

The middle stunt group kicked off the pyramid sequence with a textbook-clean back handspring-up while the two outside groups took a page out of the 2022 Morehead All Girl routine with the innovative jackknife. After hitting this impressive skill, Live Oak then showed off the challenging new rule change, the eight-person single brace one arm twisting dismount while the middle group executed a high-to-high full around straight into a 360 down.

While the middle group kept the action going with a double-up pull-through immediate lib the outside pyramid groups reloaded for a braced stretch-to-stretch rewind that hit at the top! After the outside groups hit the stretch they dropped to hands for a full up switch up before hitting their ending pyramid structure with inside hitches!

Live Oaks' impressive performance concluded in a score of 96.85, a first-place finish, and a bid to the 2023 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship! We can't wait to see what the Eagles bring to Walt Disney World in February!
