Bowling Green Celebrates 20 Years Of Their Signature Script

Bowling Green High School was one of the first two high schools established in the state of Kentucky. The school opened its doors in 1908 and has built a long-standing tradition of excellence in academics and athletics.

The cheerleaders at Bowling Green High School are no exception to this. For the last 20 years, you could find the BGHS cheerleaders wearing timeless Varsity Spirit uniforms branded with their signature “Bowling Green” script.

While wearing their signature script uniforms, the Purples have...

  • Cheered on the BGHS Football team to state championship titles in 1995, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016
  • Named 2004 UCA National Partner Stunt Champions
  • Finished as runner-up in the Large Varsity Coed Division in 2005, 2006, and 2007
  • Named 2017 UCA National All Girl Partner Stunt Champions
  • Named 2017 KHSAA State Game Day Champions
  • Finished in third place at the 2019 NHSCC in Medium Varsity Dll

For the past two decades, the Purples have displayed their signature Bowling Green script on all their apparel and gear. Head coach Bobbi Dotson even wore a uniform with the traditional logo on it during her time as a BGHS cheerleader.

“To me, the Bowling Green signature script is all about the tradition of BGHS Cheer, those that came before and those that will come after. It’s something that unites our past coed teams with our current all girl teams and it’s a constant reminder that when you are a Bowling Green cheerleader, you are a part of something greater than yourself.”

Over Thanksgiving break, coach Dotson and her staff unveiled the newest addition to their uniform collection that of course, features their beloved logo. Bowling Green's choreographer, Hank Light, designed the new look and now the Purples are all set to shine on stage with their new black MotionFLEX uniform that features purple sleeves and white detailing.

Athletes and titles will come and go but one thing is for sure: At Bowling Green High School, traditions will last forever.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the Purples as they get set to compete at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in February!
