Bartram Varsity On The Trail To Success!

Bartram Trail High School is a team to look out for this season. After having multiple top finishes in Finals the past few years, the Bears are back with a new outlook for this season that they hope to carry with them into the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in 2020!

Bartram’s first experience competing at NHSCC was in the early 2000s. They did not compete at UCA Nationals again until Coach Danielle Parker took over the program. They went back to the championship in 2015.

Just two years later, in 2017, they placed 11th in the Large Varsity division and in 2019, they took 8th, the program’s highest placement to date.

The ladies of Bartram Trail Cheerleading have an overwhelmingly positive attitude this season according to their big sister at UCF Masters camp, Catie Callen.

“They have really high energy this year.” Callen said, “They were my little’s last time I worked UCF Masters 3 years ago and the whole atmosphere about them is so overwhelmingly positive.” This positivity has been sparked from a different attitude and outlook for the upcoming season.

After talking with the team, the girls, as well as the coaches, have a focus on the need for consistency. Coach Danielle Parker said that this season, consistency is everything.

“We have so much potential each year and each year we get better and stronger, but we can’t find that consistency and make it HIT when it matters most” Parker shared.

Senior Shelby McMullin said that as a team, their consistency is what has held them back from their goals. “This year, we’re working to drill the basics so we can use perfect technique and confidence in the harder elite skills.”

Not only do they have a commitment to cheer, they have a commitment to each other. “We have really focused on improving our attitudes by getting excited to practice and being together as a team,” explained McMullin. “We have bonded outside of cheer which really helps us work together on the floor.”

Coach Parker added that no matter what happens they are motivated to love each other on and off the mat.
